After two years in the waiting, our first Autumn production following the Pandemic of 2020, Gweek Players finally got to perform Blithe Spirit. Noel Coward’s celebrated comedy is about a novelist, Charles Condomine, and his second wife, Ruth, who, thanks to eccentric medium Madame Arcati, are literally haunted by his first wife, Elvira. When she appears, visible only to Charles, and determined to sabotage his current marriage, life – and the afterlife – get rather complicated.
The production saw sell out performances and although we had reduced audience capacity in order to help protect our audience from the spread of thCovid-19 virus, we opened up our Tuesday evening preview to paying audiences. Following the dark drama of Summer 2021, this nostalgic and classic play was just just the ticket for our Autumnal heart-warmer.
Directed by Mandy Rolleston.
